The best hearty turkey chili recipe! It's a combination of robust spiced flavor with a hint of sweetness, and filled with fiber and protein. Add this easy chili recipe to your recipe rotation. It easily serves four for a meal or can be prepped ahead for easy lunches during the work week.

Ingredients

  • Avocado oil, Ghee, or Olive Oil

  • 1 pound ground turkey

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced

  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 14 ounces crushed tomatoes (fire roasted preferred for more spice)

  • 1.5 cups beef bone broth

  • 1 Tbsp honey

  • 15 ounce canned kidney beans (rinsed)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Cheddar Cheese (optional topping)

  • Sour Cream (optional topping)

  • Chili Spice Mix
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Heat oil over medium heat in a Dutch oven or soup pot.
  • Add diced onion, diced red bell pepper, pinch of salt and a dash of pepper. Cook for 6 minutes or until onions and red bell pepper are tender. Stir frequently.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 5 more minutes. Stir frequently.
  • Add the ground turkey and break it apart well. Add another pinch of salt and a dash of pepper. Cook for approximately 7 minutes until the turkey is cooked through. (no pink)
  • Add the chili spice mix and tomato paste. Stir well and cook another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add crushed tomato, bone broth, and honey. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • After 1 hour, add the kidney bean and cook for 20-30 minutes more, or until beans are tender.
