Hearty Turkey Chili

minutesThe best hearty turkey chili recipe! It's a combination of robust spiced flavor with a hint of sweetness, and filled with fiber and protein. Add this easy chili recipe to your recipe rotation. It easily serves four for a meal or can be prepped ahead for easy lunches during the work week.
Ingredients
Avocado oil, Ghee, or Olive Oil
1 pound ground turkey
1 onion, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
4-5 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp tomato paste
14 ounces crushed tomatoes (fire roasted preferred for more spice)
1.5 cups beef bone broth
1 Tbsp honey
15 ounce canned kidney beans (rinsed)
Salt and pepper to taste
Cheddar Cheese (optional topping)
Sour Cream (optional topping)
- Chili Spice Mix
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
- Heat oil over medium heat in a Dutch oven or soup pot.
- Add diced onion, diced red bell pepper, pinch of salt and a dash of pepper. Cook for 6 minutes or until onions and red bell pepper are tender. Stir frequently.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 5 more minutes. Stir frequently.
- Add the ground turkey and break it apart well. Add another pinch of salt and a dash of pepper. Cook for approximately 7 minutes until the turkey is cooked through. (no pink)
- Add the chili spice mix and tomato paste. Stir well and cook another 2-3 minutes.
- Add crushed tomato, bone broth, and honey. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- After 1 hour, add the kidney bean and cook for 20-30 minutes more, or until beans are tender.
